What should I expect for my first float?

Before floating at Float OKC, each guest must fill out an intake form. Either arrive early to do so here, or fill it out online (a link will be sent in the confirmation email). Once the float suite is ready, one of our float specialists will give a full orientation to the room and the process. This ensures that every first time floater is completely comfortable and has no questions. Once the float specialist leaves the room, there will be 5 minutes to shower. Next, step into the pod, sit down, and lay back. It is completely up to each guest what level of sensory deprivation to take part in. Music, lights, and closed door are all optional, and provide different levels of the experience. After 60 minutes, the filtration system gently turns on, signifying the end of the session. Shower again to rinse away the salt. Once dressed, the vanity area in both bathrooms provide essentials like blow dryer, deodorant, and hair products. We encourage floaters to relish in the post float "glow" in our relaxation room. We offer complimentary herbal tea, sketch books, colored pencils, and a great place to reflect and relax.

I can't swim or float in a pool, will I drown?

Floating requires absolutely no skill or effort. The density of the water will completely support any body, whether they are able to swim or float in a pool.  Even in the event that the guest falls asleep they will be fully supported by the salt solution.

is there a size or weight limit?

The interior dimensions of our pods are 84"x 58", or 7' x 4'10". The opening of the pod is 24" (2') from the floor. There are no weight limits for the tank, and the salt can support any shape or size. As long as our guests can comfortably get into the tank, floating is possible.

Are there any contraindications for floating?

Although floating is considered safe for almost everyone, we do recommend consulting medical professionals in the case of pregnancy, low blood pressure, or if the guest is under the direct care of a doctor.

What do I need to Bring?

We provide the following amenities, but guests are welcome to bring their own.

In suite-

  • Towels, wash cloth, and make up remover

  • Shower shoes, shampoo, body wash, conditioner

  • Protective ointment (for minor cuts or scratches)

In bathroom-

  • Contact solution and cases

  • Make up remover and Q-tips

  • Anti-frizz serum, gel, hairspray

  • Blowdryer and combs

  • Deodorant (crystal spray) and lotion

What should I wear?

It is recommended to float in the nude. Clothing can become a huge distraction (swim suit ties, drawstrings, elastic, etc). Remember, our float suites are each private rooms, with private showers.

What if I get salt water in my eyes?

In the event that salt water gets into a floater's eyes, we have provided a small spray bottle of fresh, clean water in each tank. Simply flush the salt from the eye, and stinging and discomfort should subside immediately.

How is the water kept sanitary?

Every guest is required to shower prior to floating to remove any lotions, oils and hair products that would potentially contaminate the water. People with certain skin conditions or those that have gotten a tattoo recently will be prohibited from floating for their own safety and the cleanliness of the water. Our tanks are fully compliant with the latest (2010) federal regulations as spelled out in the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act. They are equipped with 3 different filtration systems: ozone, UV, and particle filters. The ozone and UV filtration systems run 100% of the time when the pod is not in use, and kill any bacteria that may enter the water. The cleaning cycle is completed between each session to ensure sanitation. We use a hospital grade sanitizer for all the surfaces in the rooms between appointments. We guarantee a clean, safe, and comfortable floating experience!
