How is the water in the float tanks kept clean?

Float OKC Updated
Short answer

Every guest showers before floating, and a full cleaning cycle runs between every session. Each tank uses three filtration systems — ozone, UV and particle — and the ozone and UV systems run continuously the whole time a pod is not in use. All room surfaces are cleaned with a hospital-grade sanitizer between appointments.

Before you get in

The pre-float shower is required, not a courtesy. It removes lotions, oils and hair products that would otherwise contaminate the water. Guests with certain skin conditions, or who have been tattooed recently, cannot float — for their own safety as much as the water's.

Between every session

A complete cleaning cycle finishes before the next guest goes in. The ozone and UV systems run 100% of the time the pod is idle and kill bacteria entering the water.

The salt itself

The salt concentration is high enough that very little can survive in it, which is part of why float tanks are straightforward to keep sanitary compared with a pool.

Compliance

Our tanks are compliant with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act.

Good to know

  • No hair coloring or self-tanner within 72 hours of your float. If you have dyed your hair red we may ask you to test its colorfastness first.
  • Please wait a month after getting a tattoo before booking.
