Float OKC Weightless Wellness
First visit

Your first float should feel easy

You do not need to prepare anything, bring anything, or know anything in advance. Here is exactly what happens, so none of it is a surprise.

Step by step

What the visit looks like

Book and fill in your form

Book online or by phone. Every guest completes an intake form — a link comes with your confirmation email. Doing it beforehand saves time on the day.

Arrive and get shown around

When your suite is ready a float specialist walks you through the room and the process, and answers anything you are unsure about. Then they leave you to it.

Shower, then get in

You have about five minutes to shower — this is required, and it is what keeps the water clean. Then step in, sit down and lie back.

Float for an hour

Light, music and the door are all optional and all yours to control. After sixty minutes the filtration starts up quietly to tell you the session has ended.

Shower and take your time

Rinse the salt off, then use the vanity area — blow dryer, deodorant and hair products are all there. Nothing is timed from here.

Sit with a cup of tea

The relaxation room has complimentary herbal tea, sketch books and colored pencils. Stay as long as you like before heading back out.

The things people actually worry about

Answered before you ask

What do you wear in a float tank?

We recommend floating without clothing. Each float suite is a private room with its own private shower, so nobody else is present at any point. Swimsuit ties, drawstrings and elastic tend to become a real distraction once everything else has gone quiet.

Full answer

Can I float if I'm claustrophobic?

Yes. The door of the float pod can stay open for your entire session, and the light can stay on. Nothing locks, nothing latches, and you can get out whenever you want. Plenty of people who are uneasy about enclosed spaces float comfortably with the door up.

Full answer

I can't swim — could I drown in a float tank?

No. Floating requires no skill and no effort at all. The salt solution is dense enough to support any body completely, whether or not you can swim, and the water is only about ten inches deep. Even a floater who falls asleep stays fully supported on the surface.

Full answer

What if I get salt water in my eyes?

There is a small spray bottle of fresh, clean water inside every tank for exactly this. Flush your eye with it and the stinging settles almost immediately. It is a common enough thing that we keep one within arm's reach in every pod.

Full answer

How is the water in the float tanks kept clean?

Every guest showers before floating, and a full cleaning cycle runs between every session. Each tank uses three filtration systems — ozone, UV and particle — and the ozone and UV systems run continuously the whole time a pod is not in use. All room surfaces are cleaned with a hospital-grade sanitizer between appointments.

Full answer

What should I bring to my float?

Nothing, unless you particularly want your own. Each suite has towels, a wash cloth, makeup remover, shower shoes, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a protective ointment for small cuts. The bathrooms have contact solution, a blow dryer, combs, deodorant, lotion and hair products.

Full answer

Should I check with a doctor before floating?

Floating is considered safe for almost everyone. We do recommend speaking with a healthcare professional first if you are pregnant, have low blood pressure, or are under the direct care of a doctor. Guests with certain skin conditions, or who have been tattooed recently, cannot float.

Full answer

How long is a float session?

A float session at Float OKC is one hour. You can book a single hour or several consecutive hours. Allow a little extra time either side for showering before and after, and for sitting in the relaxation room once you are done.

Once you are in

Nothing is asked of you for an hour

No technique, no breathing exercise you have to get right, nothing to remember. Lie back and let the water hold you.

The most useful piece of advice we give first-time floaters is the simplest: do not try too hard to relax. Pay attention to your breathing, keep an open mind, and let the hour do its own work.

Before you come

A few practical things

  • Eat something small an hour or two beforehand.
  • Drink water before you arrive, and again afterwards.
  • Avoid shaving for twelve hours before — Epsom salt finds freshly shaved skin.
  • Caffeine and nicotine both wake the brain up. Worth skipping beforehand.
  • If you have long hair, leave it down while you float.
  • No hair coloring or self-tanner within 72 hours of your float.
  • Please wait a month after getting a tattoo before floating.
  • Guests with certain skin conditions cannot float, for their own safety and the cleanliness of the water.

Cancellations

We understand that life happens, and occasionally you will need to cancel or reschedule. We do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so please let us know as soon as you can if you will be unable to keep your appointment. Without 24 hours' notice — including a no-show — the payment method on file is charged half the cost of the scheduled service. This applies even if the service was already purchased as a credit or gift card; the credit itself stays on your account to use another time.
