Can I float if I'm claustrophobic?

Float OKC Updated
Short answer

Yes. The door of the float pod can stay open for your entire session, and the light can stay on. Nothing locks, nothing latches, and you can get out whenever you want. Plenty of people who are uneasy about enclosed spaces float comfortably with the door up.

Nothing about the tank is sealed

The door lifts from the inside with one hand and there is no catch of any kind. You are the only person in the room, and you control the door, the light and the music from where you are lying.

The space is bigger than people expect

The interior of our pods measures 84 by 58 inches — seven feet by nearly five — and the opening sits 24 inches from the floor. Most people find it roomier than the photographs suggest once they are inside.

Start with the door open

A good approach on a first float is to leave the door up and the light on, and then close things down only if and when you feel like it. There is no requirement to do the full dark-and-silent version, and a float with the door open is still a float.

Good to know

  • Tell your float specialist during the walkthrough — they will show you exactly how the door and lights work before they leave the room.
  • You can end a session early at any point. Just shower off and let us know.
