What is an infrared sauna?
An infrared sauna warms your body directly using infrared light rather than heating the air in the room. Because the air itself stays cooler, the room feels milder and easier to breathe than a traditional sauna. A session at Float OKC is 30 minutes in a private sauna room.
How it differs from a traditional sauna
A conventional sauna heats the air, and you warm up from the outside in as that hot air surrounds you. Infrared works the other way round, warming you directly while the room stays at a lower air temperature.
Who tends to prefer it
People who find traditional saunas stifling usually get on well with infrared, because the thing that makes a hot room uncomfortable — breathing very hot air — is largely absent.
Booking it
A sauna session is $25 for 30 minutes and can be booked on its own or alongside a float.
Good to know
- Drink water before and after.
- Sauna and float can be booked back to back — the Triple Treat package combines them.
